Programs Used
If you’d like to know about the programs used to help make Umbreon’s Palace what it is, then keep reading. For our layouts, I love to use Photoshop. I used to use Gimp(and I liked it back then), but I find Photoshop a lot easier to use. Perhaps that’s just my opinion, but whatever works, works.
Of course the graphics here were also done in Photoshop, everything from icons to buttons to signatures. I’m just too Photoshop, so I just end up doing everything there (even the occasional sprite), although I’ll do most of my spiriting in MS Paint. It’s nice and simple and makes the job easy. All the emotions on the site were made in MS Paint and then made transparent in Photoshop.
For uploading files to Umbreon’s Palace and download files from the site to my computer, FireFTP is the way to go. It’s an add-on to Firefox which lets you upload everything from folders to just a select group of files onto your site. And if you need to download some files off of your site, FireFTP will do the job just fine. So far, it’s the only thing I’ve tried for uploading and downloading files, so I’m not sure if it’s the best, but it works great for me so I never needed to go looking for anything else.
